Martinz who was reminiscing his past life was walking down the sea shore to feel the atmosphere of the sea side and listen to the waters as they flowed and the flying birds flapping their wings. He was lost in thought but believed that being at the sea side will soothe his soul and bring back the lively part of him
While sitting with eyes closed,he was distracted by a young lady who also came to watch nature and how beautiful the sea looked.
"Isn't it beautiful?" she asked. Luckily for her Martinz was conscious of his environment. "It's quite beautiful and gives life back to a dying soul and soothes the heart of an anguished person" he said. "You speak like a person who is in pains. Though you are right but in life shots do happen. What we have to do is grow a strong spirit to be able to stand the turmoil or else we will be carried away by the wind. Cheer up for there is a better tomorrow".
Immediately Martinz opened his eyes to behold the lady who just spoke to his soul with so much wisdom. Jennifer's phone rang and she was to attend to something so she left immediately after flashing a smile towards Martinz.
His pains includes that of his ex-girlfriend whom he loved sincerely but she left after a long time of their togetherness.
All these made him believe that nothing in life could cause him pains ever again. But the pains of the previous ones were still fresh though he believes he enjoys it because it lightens up his creativity as a writer.
After much struggle he was already seeing the result. He have achieved quite number of things in life. An actor who has his own movie production company, a movie producer and a director. He have also seen and learnt from people and as well from his movie production adventure.
He is an easy going person and has a great sense of humour but has this fear of letting a woman into his life so as to avoid what had happened to him earlier. Moreover, he is a type of man who is so selective when it comes to a woman he could call his own. But that isn't working because he isn't ready to call any woman his. He enjoyed the life of a bachelor and if there was a way he could place a tag bearing "single and not searching" on his forehead, he would because girls seemed to like him a lot and that added to him wanting something special. He wouldn't want just any woman.
On a cool Sunday evening he went to shoprite to buy food for the evening and he stumbled into Jennifer. Jennifer was able to recognize him but he didn't. "The guy from the sea side whose heart is anguished and the soul about to die right?" Asked Jenny. It was then that Martin's remembered who she was so he laughed and said "yes". "Well thanks to nature and those harmless looking waters for saving you from dying and healed your anguished heart" she said and the both of them laughed.
They got talking and both realised they have great sense of humour and as such they enjoyed each other's company.
It was after they had talked that they remembered they didn't introduce themselve to each other. They laughed. "I'm Martinz". "I'm Jennifer". I hope to meet you again Martinz said. "Sure" she replied and flashed another smile that looked more like the one on their first meeting towards Martinz. He couldn't help it but to smile back.
"She smile so beautifully and she is full of wisdom" he thought. He ended up smiling again. Looks like jenny have contaminated him with her lovely smile.
He isn't the type that easily ask women for their number but he wished he collected Jennifer's number so as to keep in touch.
He liked Jennifer because she is young and full of wisdom and they seem to have a trait in common and it happens to be their sense of humour.
He bought what he came to buy and left. On getting home he met a girl from his movie house in his place. She seemed to be waiting for him and of truth she was. Martinz thought it was for business talks so they greeted and he welcomed her inside.
She was carrying a black polyethylene bag. Martinz jokingly asked her "this one you are dressed to kill and carrying a waterproof hope everything is well or you want to get a human head with it". They both laughed.
"I brought you food but it seemed like you already bought food. I have to get going now" Nancy said. "No nah,how was I supposed to know you planned bringing me food. But don't worry I will eat yours and keep the one I bought in my refrigerator then microwave it when next I'm hungry. That settles it and I know you are happy now".
Martinz have noticed the sad face she portrayed so to avoid making her look stupid he decided to eat her good. As he expected,Nancy was happy so she smiled.
She brought out the food and presented it before Martinz. He loved the good so they gisted of how good of a cook she was. She smiled all through and yes she was very happy.
After the meal they watched a short movie. Nancy was expecting Martinz to do some naughty stuffs with her but he isn't that type of man who takes advantage of women.
She was continuously changing position for Martinz to notice her but he didn't. It wasn't really that Martinz didn't understand what she was doing but he acted not to notice her.
After several unsuccessful attempt to lure him. She got tired and decided to leave. Martinz accompanied her to where she could get transport back to her place. He also thanked her and showed his appreciation by paying her transport back home.
To her it was normal but to him, he was actually paying for the meal. He wasn't surprised because this wasn't the first time such is happening. He went back to his house and continued the work he left before going to shoprite
In the early hours of the next day Martinz had a strange but funny dream. He saw Jennifer jumping on his bed while he was sleeping shouting "Mr get up, it's morning already. Get up! Get up!! Get up!!!". Immediately he got up hoping to behold Jenny but he didn't. It was then he realized it was a dream. He fell back on his bed.
He slept off again. On waking up he realized he have overslept. He got up and prepared for the office. Opening his refrigerator to take a glass of water, he remembered he left the good he bought in the refrigerator. He hissed and banged the door of the refrigerator. He dislikes all kitchen activity. He drank a glass of water and left.
Office that day was just as good as him not going at all. He felt bad when he entered his office only to see his Secretary and one of his workers making out.
Later in the day Nancy came and after several attempts to lure him. She tried kissing him. He pushed her away and told her never to try it again if she doesn't want to see the bad side of him.
Nancy felt bad but he cared not. He bumped out of the office,went home to drop his portfolio and go to the sea side
He was happy when he saw Jennifer sitting by the sea side. He tiptoe to where she was sitting and tickled her. She was frightened and on turning it was Martinz. She have been praying in her heart that someone should appear and as God may have it, Martinz did.
She needed someone to talk to and Martinz happens to be a friend though they just met. But she believes he would understand her.
Martinz could notice the mood she is in at the moment is different from the one he have seen. He thought it was because she got scared when he tickled her so he apologised for scaring her but he still noticed she was moody. He inquired to find out why she is so moody.
She told him she feels like everything is drifting apart. Moving in an opposite direction as she has planned. "I really don't know about what bothers you but sincerely speaking you shouldn't allow that to eat deep within you. At times, things don't happen the way we want them but we shouldn't loose hope of better things coming our way. There is always better things coming. Though at times we need to re-strategize to see the better things of life. Cheer up for you are too beautiful for such a mood" he told her.
She smiled and leaned on his shoulder and in a nanoseconds his heart skipped a thousand times. He was surprised that she will be so free with him. He had no choice than to embrace her into his arms and pat her on her back.
"Thanks Martinz. I sincerely appreciate your kindness. I have wanted to talk to someone and wished someone would come by and God brought you. Thanks for accepting to come when God invited your because you actually saved a soul" she said. "If only she knew why I came here" he thought.
"Its well, be strong and be of good faith. Things will turn out for the better" he told her. They stayed like that for minutes before Martinz broke the silence. "I thought you were so strong that nothing seems to make you feel bad. The other time we met here, you were preaching to me. So what happened" he said jokingly.
She freed herself from his grip and gave him a little blow on his chest and leaned back on him and said "shit happens to everyone and at times we just need someone to talk to. Same way you were sitting here the first time we met". They both laughed. She freed herself again from him and said "since we are good at speaking to each other's soul lets continue. I know I may still see you here sitting alone and lost in thoughts". They laughed. "I sincerely need someone to talk to but I can't tell you when you are not even strong enough" he thought
..."no nah,we are friends and friends Care for each other so we continue caring for each other" Martinz told her. She smiled and asked him to tell her about him and if he doesn't mind he should also tell him about the pains in his heart. He showed a pale face and Jennifer apologised and told him not to talk about it if he doesn't want to.
However,it was an opportunity to pour out his heart so he said it was fine. He told her how his mother left him when he was still small and his father's carefree attitude plus how his girlfriend left him years back. Jennifer felt his pain. She also asked him more questions of which he freely responded.
And again another silence broke again for quite sometime. But he later broke it. "Its fine. Don't worry about me. Everybody has their pain so do I. I have learnt to live with it"... "you bear so much pain that you hide and still live so freely and happy. You are a strong man with a strong spirit and will. I admire you" she cuts in.
He smiled and made her lean on him again. "This is one of the reasons why you ought to be strong. Life isn't a bed of roses. It'd filled with ups and down. You have to be stronger than me so as to prevail. You are beautiful and brainy. Be strong and it won't get you down". "I will" she said
Before they left they agreed to meet at shoprite the next day. Talking to Jennifer seemed to ease his pains. He smiled before he left and she flashed back a lovely smile. He got home,wasn't ready to eat anything. Seemed like the time spent with Jennifer filled his stomach. He started his normal house work. Few minutes later someone knocked on his door.
It was his neighbour. Tall and beautiful, she walked in and greeted Martinz. He was surprised getting to know she came to cook in his apartment. She bought some food stuffs and came to cook in his apartment. She occasionally brings him good but not coming to cook it in his apartment.
She was also putting on marvelled him but he isn't the type of person that condemns people. So he allowed her to cook in his apartment after she claimed her has got exhausted and she couldn't refill it. He would have asked her that they go fill it but he thought over it and decided to allow her as to avoid making her look desperate in her quest to make him notice her
After they had eaten, she asked that they watch movie. He agreed and wanted to put a movie but she declined and told her she wants a specific movie. He asked the movie it was. She said "FORBIDDEN FRUIT". Martinz had it not so she asked him to wait so she could get it from her quarter.
"Dont you want to watch any other movie" he asked. She declined. He said alright and went to get it. He was wondering the special thing concerning the movie but could not comprehend.
The movie was to lure Martinz into getting aroused so they could end up on his bed. Little did she know she was only trying to make the friendship turn sour. The movie was filled with love and romance. It was then that Martinz understood more on why she didn't want to watch any other movie.
Half way into the movie, she couldn't hold herself anymore. Martinz on noticing what was about to happen switched off the television and asked her to calm down that it is just a movie but she pleaded with him to make love to her. "I'm sorry Christine but I can't do that" he said.
..."ain't you a man,why do you keep on running away from women". "Watch your words Christy". "Prove me wrong. Prove me wrong and show me that you are a man. Get me laid Martinz. A full grown up woman is standing right before you almost half named and you feel nothing as well expect me to accept you are a man. No you are not or are you gay. Do we women mean nothing to you. Tell me".
"Get out of my house Christy before I do something that we will both regret". "What will you do. What could it be? Do it. We won't regret it rather we will enjoy it".
Martinz raised his hand to slap her but got hold of himself. "Leave my house now and please take your movie with you". "You are just impotent so stop acting" she said and left.
Martinz couldn't believe what he just heard. He was in a deep thought throughout the night and at a point he began to see reason with Christine because for some years he haven't kissed nor touched any woman. While in thought he slept off.
When he woke up in the morning, he couldn't feel anything around him at all. He wanted to believe he is a man that he isn't impotent. He was lost in great thought as he was drinking from a bottle of liquor he picked from his bar.
Reminiscing his past, he started crying. He was in so much pains. He was up crying and drinking for hours. Soon he fell asleep again. He had a dream and in that dream he heard a female's voice saying "what makes you think you are impotent. Must you pay attention to her. You are on your own a unique man. Don't try to prove anything to anyone or yourself and stop punishing yourself". He turned to find out who it was but his reminder's alarm rang.
He tried to turn it off only to realise it was to remind him of his appointment with Jenny. He fell back on his bed and shouted "why now". He hit his leg severally against his bed. He had to hide his entire pain so as to not get Jenny worrying.
He later got up, freshened up and headed to the appointment venue. On sighting Jenny his heart skipped. He walked up to her and she flashed him a smile. "I'm sorry am a bit late. Something kept me. But if I'm allowed to say, you are looking so beautiful". With a smiles on her face she said " well, you are pardoned and you are not looking bad either". "But you are looking exceptionally beautiful and thanks for pardoning me for being late" he said as he winked at her. She smiled and hugged him.
Martinz felt shivers running down his spine. He kissed her forehead and they went and took a seat while he ordered for what they will take while chatting. They talked at length and laughed together.
Martinz couldn't take his gaze away from the lady sitting right before him. He wished he could kiss her but he have allowed his past cloud his heart that he doesn't wish to get into any relationship with any woman. After spending time together, she requested for an ice cream. He wanted to buy two but she asked that they share one. So he got just one.
They went out and got to the garden and sat. She brought out the ice cream and gave him one of the spoons. He kept on staring at her. He felt something within but could not tell what it was because he wouldn't want to believe that he was actually falling for her.
He was lost in thought and soon became unconscious of his environment. Jennifer was waving her hand in his face to bring him back all to no avail. "He is lost in thought again" she said and hit him on his chest. He was brought back to his environment again
"What were you thinking about? Is it mom or dad or is it your ex-girlfriend. Do you miss the times you both spent together" She asked. He didn't respond. He couldn't think of what to tell her so he drew her closer and looked into her eyes. She wanted to kiss him but wouldn't know what his reaction would be.
Finally, she made up her mind to kiss him. Martinz noticed what she was about doing. He wanted to scold her but remembered the words of Christine and gave in. One thing he hated was a woman trying to lure him but to be sure he was still a man, he gave in.
He wanted to take it further with her so as to be sure he was still a man. She was about saying sorry that she only wanted to make him feel better when he kissed her again. She shivered and was surprised because this time she could boldly see the love in his eyes.
Martinz had fallen in love with her. But he keeps on letting his past experience get in his present life. His heart had been beating out so loud but at this moment he felt at peace with his inner being
After they kissed there was a great silence. Martinz was confused. He could not differentiate from what he felt wanting to prove to himself from what one feels when In love. Should he tell her he was only trying to prove something to himself or should he say he loved her. Those were the thoughts going on in his mind.
"I like you, I really do like you. I don't mean to make you feel bad but..." he paused and listened to himself. He will love to have same feelings over and over again but he was scared of another heart break. "I think i felt something few minutes back but i cannot differentiate it from something that bothers me. I mean no harm but just know i do not regret kissing you" Martinz said. She nodded. He expected her to talk but she couldn't because she felt butterfly running through her stomach.
"Come let me drop you off. It's getting late" Martinz told her. He drove her home. Two friends who always have things to say to each other suddenly grew dumb. No one said a word to the other.
Martinz was thinking of a way to lighten her up again. He is becoming a little convinced that he loves her.
He parked by the road side and took her hand into his . "I'm sorry Jenny but I can't help but fall in love with you and as such I can't let you continue being this moody. I want to make you my woman and please do not say no. I cannot bear the pains. I have become so fond of you. Please be mine" he said.
She looked at him. Took her hand away from his grip and placed it at the back of his neck and then kissed him. "I just want to see you happy that all. I love you and can't say no to you. So it's a yes. I will be your woman". She said. Jennifer wanted to bring back his lots peace of mind and his joy. They kissed again.
Martinz was still a bit confused about what he wanted. If it was to prove to himself he was a man or he really wanted to keep Jenny. However, he felt something different for a woman after a long time but doesn't want to ever get hurt.
That night the picture of Jennifer and the scene of where they kissed couldn't get off his head and as such he couldn't do anything that night. He was only but scribbling her name at the back of his diary. It was a nice feeling.
They became more closer and she was able to change a lot of things about him. She visited him and they cooked together.
Martinz friends told him he could have told them he had a girlfriend but waiting for the right time to show her off to the world. He didn't say much. He only told them they won't understand while he smiled.
All the girls that were crushing on him were jealous. It was only Christine that walked up to him on a Sunday evening after he had just dropped Jennifer off and slapt him. He was surprised but wouldn't raise a finger on any woman. "How could you, how couldvyou do this. If you needed a woman, i was available. I was right here for you and you had to bring in another woman. It is not fair". "You ain't my type of women so stop forcing yourself on me and find yourself a man who wants you" he told her and walked into his apartment.
Jennifer have walked her way into his heart that he wouldn’t want to cause her any pain. It was during this period that he got to know was troubling Jenny the day she was alone by the sea side. Her brother who was at the hospital was lost to the cold hands of death.
Jenny’s parents have come to like Martinz like they would have loved their own son. They treated him like family. On Jenny’s next visit to Martinz house he wanted to get her laid only to get to know he is her first so he withdrew.
Jennifer felt bad that she couldn’t satisfy his sexual urge but he urged her to cheer up that he was fine. He wasn’t ready to prove anything to anyone or to himself again because it was already clear that he is a man and a real one at that.
He wishes to start a family with her. He took her to the river side where they first met. He had earlier told her he wants to surprise her. So he asked her to close her eyes. Few seconds later, he asked her to open her eyes
On opening her eyes, she found out Martinz was going to propose marriage to her. She didn’t know what to say. She had earlier overheard Martinz say he only wanted to be sure he was a man and that is why he was keeping her. She got confused and ran off. She wanted a man that will truly love her and she will forever pledge her loyalty to him.
On getting home she told her mom what happened and she advised her. She told her he couldn’t have proposed if he didn’t love her. She told her that if Martinz truly loved her that he would come back for her.
Two days after seriously thinking about what he wanted. Martinz was sure that he wanted Jennifer. So he went to visit her. Getting to their house he met with Jenny’s mother. He asked after the family and also told her what happened.
It was then that Jenny’s mother told him what actually made her daughter run. He really felt bad and told her everything that have been happening in his life. She understood him perfectly. She asked him to wait so she will go and talk to her.
Few minutes later, Jennifer and her mother came out. Martinz was happy to see Jennifer again. He hugged her and kissed her forehead. “I’m sorry about everything. I didn’t mean to make you feel insecure or get you scared. I want to make you my woman forever” Martinz said to her. “I’m sorry I didn’t say yes but ran off”. “So if I ask you again will you say yes”. She smiled and nodded.
He put his hand into his pocket and brought out the small box that housed a beautiful diamond ring. She looked at her mom and her mum nodded. She said yes and Martinz inserted the ring in her finger. He hugged her and her mother smiled.
Immediately Jennifer’s father came out and noticed what was happening. Oh! My son, you are here and no one cared to call me. Looks more like you have started enjoying women’s talk. They all laughed. “Dad, I said yes to him” said Jennifer.
“Why won’t you say yes, who wouldn’t say yes to him” Jennifer’s father teased her. “My son, you have done well, she is just a girl so you have to learn to overlook some of her acts” he said to Martinz. The next Sunday they all went out to have fun.
Martinz office was hot on hearing that he got engaged. Many were happy for him while the rest were jealous. Jennifer told him she wanted to meet with his family. He wasn’t ready to go home but that was a right thing to do.
He took Jenny home to meet his people. They all loved her and she enjoyed their company. Martinz still feel same way he felt earlier towards his parents but it was Jenny’s responsibility to clear his mind off the pains.
It wasn’t easy trying to make him forget but like they say “ love conquers all”. Love conquered. They got married and Martinz really loved his wife. She was his strength and at same time his weakness.
On their first night together, Jenny was anxious but Martinz calmed her nerves and promised not to hurt her. It was a nice feeling. Jennifer felt a bit shy but was assured by her husband that she is in the right hands.
They had three children. A girl and two boys. They taught their children love and they were practical example to their children in whatever they taught them. Martinz was a fulfilled man at last and could stay without thinking about pain or anything of such. He finally found love and peace.

She told him she feels like everything is drifting apart. Moving in an opposite direction as she has planned. "I really don't know about what bothers you but sincerely speaking you shouldn't allow that to eat deep within you. At times, things don't happen the way we want them but we shouldn't loose hope of better things coming our way. There is always better things coming. Though at times we need to re-strategize to see the better things of life. Cheer up for you are too beautiful for such a mood" he told her.
She smiled and leaned on his shoulder and in a nanoseconds his heart skipped a thousand times. He was surprised that she will be so free with him. He had no choice than to embrace her into his arms and pat her on her back.
"Thanks Martinz. I sincerely appreciate your kindness. I have wanted to talk to someone and wished someone would come by and God brought you. Thanks for accepting to come when God invited your because you actually saved a soul" she said. "If only she knew why I came here" he thought.
"Its well, be strong and be of good faith. Things will turn out for the better" he told her. They stayed like that for minutes before Martinz broke the silence. "I thought you were so strong that nothing seems to make you feel bad. The other time we met here, you were preaching to me. So what happened" he said jokingly.
She freed herself from his grip and gave him a little blow on his chest and leaned back on him and said "shit happens to everyone and at times we just need someone to talk to. Same way you were sitting here the first time we met". They both laughed. She freed herself again from him and said "since we are good at speaking to each other's soul lets continue. I know I may still see you here sitting alone and lost in thoughts". They laughed. "I sincerely need someone to talk to but I can't tell you when you are not even strong enough" he thought
..."no nah,we are friends and friends Care for each other so we continue caring for each other" Martinz told her. She smiled and asked him to tell her about him and if he doesn't mind he should also tell him about the pains in his heart. He showed a pale face and Jennifer apologised and told him not to talk about it if he doesn't want to.
However,it was an opportunity to pour out his heart so he said it was fine. He told her how his mother left him when he was still small and his father's carefree attitude plus how his girlfriend left him years back. Jennifer felt his pain. She also asked him more questions of which he freely responded.
And again another silence broke again for quite sometime. But he later broke it. "Its fine. Don't worry about me. Everybody has their pain so do I. I have learnt to live with it"... "you bear so much pain that you hide and still live so freely and happy. You are a strong man with a strong spirit and will. I admire you" she cuts in.
He smiled and made her lean on him again. "This is one of the reasons why you ought to be strong. Life isn't a bed of roses. It'd filled with ups and down. You have to be stronger than me so as to prevail. You are beautiful and brainy. Be strong and it won't get you down". "I will" she said
Before they left they agreed to meet at shoprite the next day. Talking to Jennifer seemed to ease his pains. He smiled before he left and she flashed back a lovely smile. He got home,wasn't ready to eat anything. Seemed like the time spent with Jennifer filled his stomach. He started his normal house work. Few minutes later someone knocked on his door.
It was his neighbour. Tall and beautiful, she walked in and greeted Martinz. He was surprised getting to know she came to cook in his apartment. She bought some food stuffs and came to cook in his apartment. She occasionally brings him good but not coming to cook it in his apartment.
She was also putting on marvelled him but he isn't the type of person that condemns people. So he allowed her to cook in his apartment after she claimed her has got exhausted and she couldn't refill it. He would have asked her that they go fill it but he thought over it and decided to allow her as to avoid making her look desperate in her quest to make him notice her
After they had eaten, she asked that they watch movie. He agreed and wanted to put a movie but she declined and told her she wants a specific movie. He asked the movie it was. She said "FORBIDDEN FRUIT". Martinz had it not so she asked him to wait so she could get it from her quarter.
"Dont you want to watch any other movie" he asked. She declined. He said alright and went to get it. He was wondering the special thing concerning the movie but could not comprehend.
The movie was to lure Martinz into getting aroused so they could end up on his bed. Little did she know she was only trying to make the friendship turn sour. The movie was filled with love and romance. It was then that Martinz understood more on why she didn't want to watch any other movie.
Half way into the movie, she couldn't hold herself anymore. Martinz on noticing what was about to happen switched off the television and asked her to calm down that it is just a movie but she pleaded with him to make love to her. "I'm sorry Christine but I can't do that" he said.
..."ain't you a man,why do you keep on running away from women". "Watch your words Christy". "Prove me wrong. Prove me wrong and show me that you are a man. Get me laid Martinz. A full grown up woman is standing right before you almost half named and you feel nothing as well expect me to accept you are a man. No you are not or are you gay. Do we women mean nothing to you. Tell me".
"Get out of my house Christy before I do something that we will both regret". "What will you do. What could it be? Do it. We won't regret it rather we will enjoy it".
Martinz raised his hand to slap her but got hold of himself. "Leave my house now and please take your movie with you". "You are just impotent so stop acting" she said and left.
Martinz couldn't believe what he just heard. He was in a deep thought throughout the night and at a point he began to see reason with Christine because for some years he haven't kissed nor touched any woman. While in thought he slept off.
When he woke up in the morning, he couldn't feel anything around him at all. He wanted to believe he is a man that he isn't impotent. He was lost in great thought as he was drinking from a bottle of liquor he picked from his bar.
Reminiscing his past, he started crying. He was in so much pains. He was up crying and drinking for hours. Soon he fell asleep again. He had a dream and in that dream he heard a female's voice saying "what makes you think you are impotent. Must you pay attention to her. You are on your own a unique man. Don't try to prove anything to anyone or yourself and stop punishing yourself". He turned to find out who it was but his reminder's alarm rang.
He tried to turn it off only to realise it was to remind him of his appointment with Jenny. He fell back on his bed and shouted "why now". He hit his leg severally against his bed. He had to hide his entire pain so as to not get Jenny worrying.
He later got up, freshened up and headed to the appointment venue. On sighting Jenny his heart skipped. He walked up to her and she flashed him a smile. "I'm sorry am a bit late. Something kept me. But if I'm allowed to say, you are looking so beautiful". With a smiles on her face she said " well, you are pardoned and you are not looking bad either". "But you are looking exceptionally beautiful and thanks for pardoning me for being late" he said as he winked at her. She smiled and hugged him.
Martinz felt shivers running down his spine. He kissed her forehead and they went and took a seat while he ordered for what they will take while chatting. They talked at length and laughed together.
Martinz couldn't take his gaze away from the lady sitting right before him. He wished he could kiss her but he have allowed his past cloud his heart that he doesn't wish to get into any relationship with any woman. After spending time together, she requested for an ice cream. He wanted to buy two but she asked that they share one. So he got just one.
They went out and got to the garden and sat. She brought out the ice cream and gave him one of the spoons. He kept on staring at her. He felt something within but could not tell what it was because he wouldn't want to believe that he was actually falling for her.
He was lost in thought and soon became unconscious of his environment. Jennifer was waving her hand in his face to bring him back all to no avail. "He is lost in thought again" she said and hit him on his chest. He was brought back to his environment again
"What were you thinking about? Is it mom or dad or is it your ex-girlfriend. Do you miss the times you both spent together" She asked. He didn't respond. He couldn't think of what to tell her so he drew her closer and looked into her eyes. She wanted to kiss him but wouldn't know what his reaction would be.
Finally, she made up her mind to kiss him. Martinz noticed what she was about doing. He wanted to scold her but remembered the words of Christine and gave in. One thing he hated was a woman trying to lure him but to be sure he was still a man, he gave in.
He wanted to take it further with her so as to be sure he was still a man. She was about saying sorry that she only wanted to make him feel better when he kissed her again. She shivered and was surprised because this time she could boldly see the love in his eyes.
Martinz had fallen in love with her. But he keeps on letting his past experience get in his present life. His heart had been beating out so loud but at this moment he felt at peace with his inner being
After they kissed there was a great silence. Martinz was confused. He could not differentiate from what he felt wanting to prove to himself from what one feels when In love. Should he tell her he was only trying to prove something to himself or should he say he loved her. Those were the thoughts going on in his mind.
"I like you, I really do like you. I don't mean to make you feel bad but..." he paused and listened to himself. He will love to have same feelings over and over again but he was scared of another heart break. "I think i felt something few minutes back but i cannot differentiate it from something that bothers me. I mean no harm but just know i do not regret kissing you" Martinz said. She nodded. He expected her to talk but she couldn't because she felt butterfly running through her stomach.
"Come let me drop you off. It's getting late" Martinz told her. He drove her home. Two friends who always have things to say to each other suddenly grew dumb. No one said a word to the other.
Martinz was thinking of a way to lighten her up again. He is becoming a little convinced that he loves her.
He parked by the road side and took her hand into his . "I'm sorry Jenny but I can't help but fall in love with you and as such I can't let you continue being this moody. I want to make you my woman and please do not say no. I cannot bear the pains. I have become so fond of you. Please be mine" he said.
She looked at him. Took her hand away from his grip and placed it at the back of his neck and then kissed him. "I just want to see you happy that all. I love you and can't say no to you. So it's a yes. I will be your woman". She said. Jennifer wanted to bring back his lots peace of mind and his joy. They kissed again.
Martinz was still a bit confused about what he wanted. If it was to prove to himself he was a man or he really wanted to keep Jenny. However, he felt something different for a woman after a long time but doesn't want to ever get hurt.
That night the picture of Jennifer and the scene of where they kissed couldn't get off his head and as such he couldn't do anything that night. He was only but scribbling her name at the back of his diary. It was a nice feeling.
They became more closer and she was able to change a lot of things about him. She visited him and they cooked together.
Martinz friends told him he could have told them he had a girlfriend but waiting for the right time to show her off to the world. He didn't say much. He only told them they won't understand while he smiled.
All the girls that were crushing on him were jealous. It was only Christine that walked up to him on a Sunday evening after he had just dropped Jennifer off and slapt him. He was surprised but wouldn't raise a finger on any woman. "How could you, how couldvyou do this. If you needed a woman, i was available. I was right here for you and you had to bring in another woman. It is not fair". "You ain't my type of women so stop forcing yourself on me and find yourself a man who wants you" he told her and walked into his apartment.
Jennifer have walked her way into his heart that he wouldn’t want to cause her any pain. It was during this period that he got to know was troubling Jenny the day she was alone by the sea side. Her brother who was at the hospital was lost to the cold hands of death.
Jenny’s parents have come to like Martinz like they would have loved their own son. They treated him like family. On Jenny’s next visit to Martinz house he wanted to get her laid only to get to know he is her first so he withdrew.
Jennifer felt bad that she couldn’t satisfy his sexual urge but he urged her to cheer up that he was fine. He wasn’t ready to prove anything to anyone or to himself again because it was already clear that he is a man and a real one at that.
He wishes to start a family with her. He took her to the river side where they first met. He had earlier told her he wants to surprise her. So he asked her to close her eyes. Few seconds later, he asked her to open her eyes
On opening her eyes, she found out Martinz was going to propose marriage to her. She didn’t know what to say. She had earlier overheard Martinz say he only wanted to be sure he was a man and that is why he was keeping her. She got confused and ran off. She wanted a man that will truly love her and she will forever pledge her loyalty to him.
On getting home she told her mom what happened and she advised her. She told her he couldn’t have proposed if he didn’t love her. She told her that if Martinz truly loved her that he would come back for her.
Two days after seriously thinking about what he wanted. Martinz was sure that he wanted Jennifer. So he went to visit her. Getting to their house he met with Jenny’s mother. He asked after the family and also told her what happened.
It was then that Jenny’s mother told him what actually made her daughter run. He really felt bad and told her everything that have been happening in his life. She understood him perfectly. She asked him to wait so she will go and talk to her.
Few minutes later, Jennifer and her mother came out. Martinz was happy to see Jennifer again. He hugged her and kissed her forehead. “I’m sorry about everything. I didn’t mean to make you feel insecure or get you scared. I want to make you my woman forever” Martinz said to her. “I’m sorry I didn’t say yes but ran off”. “So if I ask you again will you say yes”. She smiled and nodded.
He put his hand into his pocket and brought out the small box that housed a beautiful diamond ring. She looked at her mom and her mum nodded. She said yes and Martinz inserted the ring in her finger. He hugged her and her mother smiled.
Immediately Jennifer’s father came out and noticed what was happening. Oh! My son, you are here and no one cared to call me. Looks more like you have started enjoying women’s talk. They all laughed. “Dad, I said yes to him” said Jennifer.
“Why won’t you say yes, who wouldn’t say yes to him” Jennifer’s father teased her. “My son, you have done well, she is just a girl so you have to learn to overlook some of her acts” he said to Martinz. The next Sunday they all went out to have fun.
Martinz office was hot on hearing that he got engaged. Many were happy for him while the rest were jealous. Jennifer told him she wanted to meet with his family. He wasn’t ready to go home but that was a right thing to do.
He took Jenny home to meet his people. They all loved her and she enjoyed their company. Martinz still feel same way he felt earlier towards his parents but it was Jenny’s responsibility to clear his mind off the pains.
It wasn’t easy trying to make him forget but like they say “ love conquers all”. Love conquered. They got married and Martinz really loved his wife. She was his strength and at same time his weakness.
On their first night together, Jenny was anxious but Martinz calmed her nerves and promised not to hurt her. It was a nice feeling. Jennifer felt a bit shy but was assured by her husband that she is in the right hands.
They had three children. A girl and two boys. They taught their children love and they were practical example to their children in whatever they taught them. Martinz was a fulfilled man at last and could stay without thinking about pain or anything of such. He finally found love and peace.
