SHE IS LOST
Story by Maduka Chinecherem
EPISODE 2
Things fell apart after the death of her father including her mother's business. The only thing they had left was a piece of land from which they would get their daily needs by cultivating and selling farm produce.
Nneka, sadly had returned home to stay with her family. No money to continue with her academics.
One day, nneka with her family were returning from the farm when a car approached them. The man seemed to know Nneka's mother. He asked after each and everyone of the family and promised to visit them later so as to sympathize with them.
Chief Kentus was an old friend of Nneka's father. He was married with five children of which three were married.
While Chief Kentus was in Nneka's house sympathizing with them over the death of their deceased he was secretly admiring Nneka. In order to know more about her, he asked her mother what her first child was doing in the village when she could go out and work. Mrs Obianuju Okeke lamented on how her daughter have dropped out of school after the death and burial of her husband. She also told him how no one cared about them.
Mr. Kentus thought about it and quickly told her he would send Nneka back to school. She was very grateful. She couldn't thank Chief enough. Chief told Nneka to come to his house later and collect money so she would get everything she would be needing for school, including paying of her fees.
Nneka asked for direction and even though she didn't actually get the direction Chief gave, she was just happy.
Later in the day, Nneka went to chief's house to collect the money and also give him the food her mother made for him to show her appreciation. She noticed Chief's sexual advances but didn't take it seriously.
Nneka was a very beautiful girl who no one passes by and fails not to look back again. She and her sister inherited that beauty from their mother. Oftentimes when her dad was still alive they teased him saying "dad couldn't have resisted mum so in other to keep her around him, he quickly married her".
Chief's family lived in the city and they rarely returned. There was no one to prepare meal for him. Nneka's mother took it upon herself to always prepare food for him for the kindness he have been showing them and Nneka was meant to be taking his food to him.
