Gold was so beautiful and when I dismounted from the bike man's bike at the Maraba bridge I didn't remember to pay the okada man because my whole attention was on Gold who was already smiling at me. "You never pay me Oga" he shouted and I stopped immediately. I paid him while Gold laughed at me. I approached her and she said, "you look finer now" I smiled and she started walking off, telling me to follow her. I looked around and followed her as she entered Mr Biggs. We sat down and she went and paid for fried rice and chicken and came back. When she went off to pay for that rice I took a glance at her waist and I said to myself, "I'm going to date this girl. In fact I will tell her now"
She sat down and we were served. We started eating silently. "Why did you pay for this food?" I asked her. "I want to appreciate you for what you did for me" she said and I fell in love with her voice already, especially that her laughter and that smile. Suddenly her phone rang and she picked it. After sometime she hung the call and became restless. "What is it?" I asked her. "It was my kid brother that just called me. He has been suspended from school for failing to pay for his project" she said worriedly and almost about to cry. I looked at her straight in the eye and I knew she was lying. "How much is the money?" I asked her. "It is 10,000 naira. My parents are so poor and...
