I wanted to know Gold more. She accused me of judging and condemning her, and of not knowing who she truly was. I sat well and ready to here it all. "You said I didn't know you. I want to know you well now. Who are you?"
She sighed and started, "First I will start with apologies...
"I don't need your apologies" I cut her in.
"Eze?" She was surprised at my directness.
"That is my name. Now continue" I said with my right fist supporting my jaw.
She sighed again and continued, "I don't have a sibling or parents" she revealed and looked me in the eye, expecting me to react but I just sat staring at her. "My name is Ogechi. I'm an Ibo girl from Imo State but I have lived almost all my life here in Abuja. My parents died of a strange sickness. My only kid brother joined them in a road accident. I didn't have anyone to turn to. I had to leave Imo" she looked at me again and seeing no reaction from me she continued, "I came down to Abuja and joined a friend of mine way back in secondary school. She helped me secure a place where I work and...that is it Eze. I think I have explained myself enough" she sighed and wiped her face with her two hands. She was preventing herself from crying.
I sighed too and sat back on the seat, glaring at her.
"What?" She had to ask.
"Is that all? I mean there is something I want to hear and I haven't heard you say it" I was saying.
She looked me straight in the face and asked. "What do you want to hear?"
"Are you a single mother?" I asked and she kept looking at me...
